Updating has been weird lately. With Kyle being very random about when he can or cannot post a comic (we all love that crummy little computer he has to use until he can afford a rel one), and with both of us being uh....”busy” (There's nothing wrong with spending 9 hours straight playing Ragnarok, is there? Oh, right, THERE IS) it's only getting harder and harder to know when there will or will not be an update. So when he comes to me last night and tells me we're updating, I say “Oh, really?” and then proceed to forget about it until morning.
Hello, it's morning.
Theoretically, I'm working right now. Theory only holds up for so long however. See, I tutor Java on an hourly basis, and people only WANT tutoring right before a homework is due or when a major test is coming up. So I get days like this where I sit around and go “...I wonder how long I can get away with playing Minesweeper before someone really cares?” And they never do.
I saw Waiting... the other day. Pretty funny movie. Pretty accurate too. Most people can understand the plight of poor Dean, who is slowly working his way through community college and is working a crappy job that he doesn't enjoy in order to afford it. I think all of us have been there. If you haven't, do it anyway. I believe the world would be a better place if everyone worked a job they really dispised at least for a little while. People would be much kinder to each other, because we would all understand what true suffering is.
The humour is pretty crude for the most part. Not as smart as Clerks, but not outright childish either. There's a lot of heavy insult comedy, and “The Penis Game” definitely takes center stage. Oh, you'll find out alright.
The best part of any comedy like this is the characters. All very well defined, though often extremely one dimensional. This sort of thing just works in this movie, as the intended effect is for you to say “Hey, I know a guy just like this!” Even if you've never actually known someone like this in your entire life.
See it with a group of your loudest friends, be sure they've worked McJobs in the past themselves. You'll have a great time, I promise.
I'm happy to say, the annoying little kid that MTV gave his own show...Andy Whatever...yeah that guy...he's actually pretty funny in this movie. He does what he needs to do and gets out of the way. I've had several of the younger teenagers say to me “if you're not our age, you just wouldn't get it.” No, I get it. He was dropped on the head as a child, and now he thinks this is funny material. Oh, I get it indeed. Even the rap video he does over the credits is pretty funny.
So, anyway, welcome to Arc 2. Big things shall eb going on, and BACKSTORY! Oh, you'll love it. You'll love it a lot
(Kite Theatre is going to update sometime before the end of the week again, not sure when, as soon as I can be assed to resize the rest of the backlog of entries. I have a few ideas for new comics as well, but I'm waiting to see if anybody actually cares first. And, yes, Comic is still working on Book of Jeff.) | |
