Hello boys and girl. Welcome to another exiciting update of Sold Out. This rant promised to be replaced by a BRAND NEW ONE in like 48 hours so who really gives a damn?
With Kyle being late on updates so often lately, I don't know when I am expected to write these rants. I like writing them as they become needed, because it keeps them spur of the moment. Writing them ahead of time, when I have done so, has felt kind of cheap. I know not why.
So, despite what I had read about it, I picked up Donkey Konga. The original one. I have read reviews where people talk about the music sucking, being mostly comprised of songs for kids. But then I looked at the box...come on, Queen! Mighty Mighty Bosstones! These are not bands that suck man, I can avoid the crap (Bingo!) and go with the good stuff (Sing Sing Sing).
Little did I know that some dude with a synth backup band was going to sing all these songs. It is, very obviously in fact, the same white guy singing all of these songs (except those with female vocals). The man has no real vocal talents, and he KILLED all the good songs. There is no longer any soul behind We Will Rock You. The only thing some of these songs even had before was soul, and they have been made bland. Spice fully removed.
This is why the game sucks, not because of poor choice in music. They should have known better and gone to the source for the material, rather than getting poor covers. Honestly, if you don't pay attention, you won't notice this. It is very much possible enough to get into the bongo-ing so much that you don't notice the lameness of the music. Maybe that was the point, even. Highlight the bongoing, forget the music. But it's HARD to do after you start noticing this.
I hear Donkey Konga 2 had it a little better, only lacking because they relied on pop music too much. I say to that...oh well, pop music is popular for a reason. It had to sound good to someone.
All told, Donkey Konga only really stands up as quality as a party game. If you want a good beat game, go look for Amplitude instead.

What exactly is happening there?

I'll post a real rant when my brain doesn't hurt, but for those confused, that'd be a raiding party heading towards their ship.
Or that's what it LOOKS like, anyway.

Grey haired man told them outside is bad, they went out anyway and are now facing an army. :3
Kittens, AWAY! | |
| |
| |
Noooooo! X3 Anyway. You know, it always seems like the one with the good idea, say, for example, staying alive when dealing with xenophobes involving NOT GOING OUTSIDE WITHOUT A PLAN always ends up getting ignored. That's so me... bastards.

1) I apologize for the double post, blame my router. It stays for posterity.
2) My spam mail:fan mail ratio is rediculous. I have gotten one fan mail in the history of Sold Out, and I get a plethora of junk mail per day. Thusly, my mail box for Sold Out is mostly ignored. Not saying don't send me mail, in fact please feel free to do so at leisure - just saying.
