Yeah...this post again. This time, we're actually doing it.

Today's update, I do believe I see a little battle brewing. That, or Kirin has decided to become an easy bake oven. I am no longer sure what to make of my own characters anymore.

Alright, so, here's the deal. We've held off on this long enough. As well, I have nothing else to talk about. So, let's talk about it: we totally have a donations package ready to go. Mostly.

What's it going to include? This one will include a wallpaper (we've actually had this one for a while, two of them in fact - but we're going to hold off on the other), a few sketches of random things, and a BRAND NEW bonus comic. Something involving the back stories of the characters. So far I've written out a hand full, but I don't like all of them so some revisions are going to be taking place, but there's at least two-three comics we like.

So, what's it to you? Ok, see that button over there? That nice little paypal button that nobody has ever clicked ever? Yeah, feed the kitty. How much do you have to donate? Don't give a shit, honestly. You want to donate a penny, we'll send you the package. Obviously, we'd appreciate more, but we don't want to have to hold back fans from material that honestly can't afford it (and I don't think a penny is going to kill anybody here. I hope not anyway.)

We'll start sending out packets next week, if we get any donations.

Of course, we're in the works of other ways to get your money. We are definitely planning on releasing the book after arc two is done. Not sure if I mentioned it before, but the title we've agreed on is Sold Out: tl;dr. We're pretty sure we're going to publish on Lulu. What we're not sure of is a few things, I figure you guys can help me out with this.

The book will, at the very least, cover all comics from arcs one and two. We think this is going to be roughly 120 comics. Each is one page in size. Now, Sold Out is in color. Printing color with Lulu costs 15 cents per page. Printing black and white costs 3 cents per page.

Now, of course, Dom has a point. The stuff on the website is ALREADY the inferior product. Publishing in black and white would be making fans pay for something that is inferior to a product they get for free. However, if we published in black and white we could cut the cost to publish almost in half, and possibly include some editorials and related items.

So, what I figure is, if we sold the full color version it'd be about $25 and would have relatively few extra items. Or, we could do a $15 black and white version, with a couple extra items thrown in for flavor to make up for the lack of cool color shit. I don't know, but since the beginning of the comic we decided we'd do whatever the fans really seemed to want us to do.

So...what say you?

We're also, of course, considering the standard store. T-shirts and whatnot. I'd like products that are at least superior to cafepress though...though if cafepress is our only option we might end up doing that. Suggestions here would be cool as well.

And, of course, my offer still stands that I've made before...if anyone ever wants to advertise their whatever, I'll run an advertisement in that top banner area for a month for $10 (which covers server and domain costs, which is really all I care about). If you're interested, contact me. If you haven't noticed, the smiling Kite is the link.

Funny story. Whoops

Hey guys, if you posted a comment in the last day or so, and did fill out a name and/or e-mail, it still called you "an anonymous mook." That's my fault-- turns out there was a small problem in the part of the software that "cleaned" those pieces of information to make sure they couldn't contain dangerous code or anything like that, namely that its method for cleaning things up consisted of:

1. Take object to clean
2. Destroy it

Although you end up with something spic and span, it's not very useful. Fixed now, though! So don't be put off if it calls you an anonymous mook. Believe me, in a prior version, I had a whole randomised databases of insults to call readers automatically, and they came up in colours, too, but we scrapped that!

HA!

That last panel is the bomb, Kyle. In fact this entire comic is the bomb. And I assume next comic is going to blow the heck up.

Book you say? I should read the news more. ^^

I think for the printing option, I would say color. You just can't do as much with black and white, and when I buy something, extras are nice but it's the actual product I'm looking at that interests me. In this case, the book.

I'd say black and white, because with proper dynamic shadowing effects it can be more fun than color; and has the ability to put out a lot more potential. But anyway.
I wonder how the donation thingy would work. Hnn...

The use of RO emotes was quite funny...but if you published that you'd get the crap sued out of you.

Sued? Pfft, you're crazy.

There's a LOT of good reason we wouldn't get sold over stuff like this but I don't have time to go over them right now.

Hooray dismissive posts.

Are they even allowed to copyright things as minor as emotes?

Well, maybe not, but... I wouldn't be too surprised, given the strange copyrights these days... (i.e., http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/2133426.stm)

Grah! I have no paypal in order to feed you lot money.
It's slightly depressing, because I'm leery about getting a paypal account since the last time I did something like that, I ended up with -261.36.
So... yuh. Caution's overriding my compassion matrix.

Careful double-checking is definitely always in order when dealing with money. That's a lesson I learned recently when I tried sending twenty bucks from MY OWN SAVINGS account to my own checkings account. I make one little typo, obviously not noticing and it goes in backwards. Three days later it went through anyway and I have a negative balance and the bank charges me an extra twenty bucks so I have a $40 negative balance. Never mind that they could have just realised I didn't have what it takes, oh no, here's a chance to charge this guy a pretty fee.

Now I store all my money in my pay pal (a piggy bank under my bed who is my pal). The interest is not a lot worse than a real bank and they'll never screw me over.

Totally make a forum account man, you make enough posts on the front page to make an account for that reason alone.
