Just a little morose.

As far as I know, this is what happened: the next comic was going to be a Cail comic. Simply put, I believe it was some of the specifications of the comic that got us this delay. So, we're doing what we've always done. When a comic doesn't come off right, we switch focus. We actually have several threads of focus up until #100. After that...*shrug*

Not all of this can really be put on the comic itself. Frankly there's been a bit of...shall we say, apathy towards the comic. It doesn't seem to REALLY be going anywhere. I blame the following chain:

To get readers, you have to advertise
To make money, you have to sell things to readers
To advertise, you have to have money

We've been hoving around the 300 unique visits per day mark for...a long, long time. Now, it used to be that we were only getting 300 WITH advertisement sure, and we're now getting 300 of our own accord so when the Bob and George advertisement kicks in next month it might go up to 400 or even 500...the point really stays. Things don't really seem to be going anywhere around here.

Honestly, that's why I keep trying to come up with new ideas for the money raising. We realize where we are. We're not yet in a position to make money. We're just...a comic.

There are rays of hope though.

The guy from Yirmumah sent us an email at one point, we're not used to being contacted by OTHER members of the webcomic community, especially one we can actually look up to like D.J. Coffman. Even if he was just telling us he had advertisement space if we were looking for some traffic, we were both really glad to get any attenion (which lead to this coming out of Kyle.

We actually have some traffic at the forums lately, and that has definitely been uplifting. Especially since, in our opinion, a strong community is where we want to leap off from.

But, despite all this, the enthusiasm isn't there like it was. Don't get me wrong, we're not quitting, we don't want to, because we still enjoy telling the story. We knew, when we started, that we were never going to be another MegaTokyo or Penny Arcade. That's cool. Or even another Little Gamer. But, by #100, we imagined more. Nothing amazing, but a little more.

We've learned a lot though, and we're going to keep fighting this uphill battle. Because, if nothing else, I refuse to say to myself that I am totally incapable of being as popular as shit like MegaTokyo and Sore Thumbs (most people would put the phrase "that's right, I said it here, but I would like to not the following: this phrase has never been funny).

I can help advertise you. I really enjoy this comic and I dont want to see it go under.

Well, while I can promise it'll never go under...

...if we had more visitors maybe Kyle would have more urge to actually draw these things.

"Being unconcious is LIKE consent"

For some reason, seeing a girl say that throws my entire world view into wack.

Time to put my Deathcab for Cutie and Depech Mode albums back on the shelf

I say things like that in the rant, and then my readers do things that are totally awesome. Like, Yuki Daisuki, long time reader, comes back from a fried motherboard, and gives us the following fanart (linked because it's too large to post and I don't really want to edit):

Meria has definitely never looked this cute. Maybe we should use this as a picture of her as a youngin'?

Even if this has less to do with us, this is still too cute, plus I do have a link to Pokemon that you don't know about yet, but will find out when I rant about it at comic #100

And Meria rises ever farther up the awesome scale. That line was gold. However, seeing Samantha Hargrave in profile is actually a little frightening. I meen, geez, those things have got to be as big as my head. As though the arm cannon/claw of death wasn't bad enough, she has even more weapons built into her.

Not the first time her profile has been kind of scary.

Problem is, when you see her in a black shirt, she looks kind of...weird. Like a big old blob of darkness. Then you realize no...those are just her boobs. Scary.

I do love Meria's line as well. I take it she's just so used to hearing it from other people.

Whoa, haha, there are actually lines in that blob of darkness. I had to turn my brightness all the way up to differentiate between the shades of black.

...okay, 61 up.
